True Rebellion starts with Inner Transformation

Updated: Mar 10, 2021

To all the Rebel Hearts who are determined to thrive.

What do I do you might ask?

What I do is what I believe.

What I believe is that the best way to rebel is from the inside out.

I've lived a good portion of my life so far rebelling at various times against someone or something that is unjust or unfair in this society. Such as Media perpetuated beauty standards, the militarized industrial complex, abusive authority, oppression in all forms, intolerance for diversity, racism, classism, violence/abuse, unequitable money system we live in, lack mentality.

These are all worthy causes indeed. And I've had incredible experiences that I don't regret and some things are always worth being a rebel for.

Things people do to rebel in the traditional sense:

- get piercings or tattoos

-live life/come out as part of GLBTQIA

-emotionally eat

-do drugs or alcohol

- have lots of wild reckless sex

- ride motorcycles fast with or without strangers

-drive your car into snowbanks on purpose for adventure and fun

-skinny dipping (this isn’t so bad, right?)

-beer bongs and partying

-wear dark makeup and ripped jeans and dress in all black

-self-harm/cutting

-drive your car around without a car door and pretend your in the Dukes of Hazard TV series

-ignore money or your bank account

-date someone you know your parents don’t approve of

-binge and buffer your feelings with: food, netflix, gossip, sex, gambling, drinking, etc

-live off the grid, in your car, or in a van to escape society

These things are debatably fun or dangerous, but do any of them create real change or the results we want to living a better life?

I know from my lived experience that the most effective way to truly rebel is not exclusively about these things.

It’s mostly about what we cultivate and change from the inside. This includes our stories, our thoughts, our feelings, and our actions.

The true rebellion is the one that starts from changing our inner world.

That's bad-ass. That's a real rebel. Someone who stops listening to what everyone else wants or expects of them and starts listening to themselves/god/spirit.

You are a rebel when you:

-Take back your power from external influences that don't serve you

-Re-write and retell your story in a way that supports your growth

-Become a master of the only things you can control: your thoughts, feelings, and actions.

Are you a master at managing your thoughts and feelings from a place of alignment?

Or do you let outside circumstances and other people dictate your decisions and derail you from tyring?

When's the last time you told yourself a new story about yourself?

I'm curious: What story are you telling right now that is most holding you back? And what have you done to rebel?

With Love all my rebel hearts

Love, Sam
